The Difference between Vision and Mission
When I was in a meeting with CEO of a training center I asked him about his Vision and Mission or in other words: the Vision and Mission of his center. The subject was his website, I designed his website and we ready to put the content of his website and we spoke about the home page and it should contain the Vision and Mission of the educational institute.
But I was surprised.
He didn’t know the difference between the Vision and Mission, although he was a manager for a training center which teaches these subjects for students. But I didn’t blame him so much because it was common between people now, and I’m so afraid if I discovered that people who interested in self-development doesn’t know, too. Especially, high educated people.
So, I decided to talk a little about Vision and Mission.
Vision
Vision is a dream in your mind and you are looking forward it. You are trying to transfer this Vision from a dream to a reality. It explained as a moment of arrival to achieve this dream. So, when you describe Vision you should explain everything, Voice, sight, feeling, people around you, celebration and everything. You should use all of verbal, visual and sensory effects.
And when I say everything I mean everything, even the cake of celebration and if it will be fruit or chocolate cake. You see the scene with all details. It is a Vision in your mind and you are trying to transfer it from your mind to outer reality. This was The Vision.
This vision may be happened after 5 or 20 years. More or less, it is up to your plan and time factor.
Example:
My vision in 2015 is discussing PHD in human relation in Cambridge. And I will invite my mother, wife and my two close friends. The subject of PHD will be “Towards Smart and Productive Society With Full Awareness of Time Management”. And I will see the happiness in eyes of my family and friends, and respect of my professors.
Or …
My Vision in January 1, 2013 is owning Toyota Prado 4×4 car. I will make it as a surprise for my wife. I will tell her that I’m going to buy something and get the car suddenly. The first driver for this car will be my wife because she loves 4×4 cars so much and especially Prado. I imagined her face in this moment and her words with my children.
These were simple samples of Vision. Now tell me your Vision and let’s set it together.
Mission
Mission is different. It expresses doing something without limits. So, in your mission you will stay doing the same without satiation. Surely, you are going to be more experienced in this field but still doing the same. You may upgrade your ability to high level but still doing the same.
Example:
My Mission is giving happiness to myself and others through teaching them self improvement training in modern and smart way.
Or ..
My Mission is giving happiness to myself, wife and my sons. And to be a good father for them and teaching them useful science and experience. I hope to make the moment of coming home the best moment in the day for all of them.
